Frank Tros will give a presentation at the 16th World Congress of ILERA in Philadelphia

Frank Tros will give a presentation at the 16th World Congress of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) on Wednesday 4th of july in Philadelphia.

The title of his paper and presentation is: ‘Flexicurity in Europe: can it survive a double crisis?’
While the concept of flexicurity is re-confirmed in recent EU documents, the economic and political conditions are less favorable than in the years it was emerged and developed. The second crisis of flexicurity refers to the fact that the concept in itself seems in crisis since it meets more and more critics of academics and trade unions and because of disappointing outcomes of policies that are labeled as ‘flexicurity’. Frank Tros will argue, among other conclusions, that the concept is currently ‘not dead’, but risks further erosion if Europe, the national governments and the social partners will not turn back to one of the most important origins of the concept of flexicurity: the view that investments in social and employment policies are an economic production function.
